Brutalist Stories

Architecture-Inspired Short Story Collection
2016-2018

A collection of 104 short stories (500-600 words each) written over two years, drawing inspiration from brutalist and neo-brutalist architecture. Each story paired with a specific piece of brutalist architecture or imagery focused on the brutalist aesthetic. An experiment in developing stories around visual and architectural stimulation rather than sound.

Deliverables:

  • 104 short stories (500-600 words each)
  • Two-year weekly publication schedule
  • Brutalist architecture pairing for each story
  • Published on Medium platform
  • Exploration of brutalist aesthetic and themes

Achievement: Sustained two-year creative discipline producing weekly architecture-inspired fiction, demonstrating ability to create narratives from visual and spatial inspiration, complementing the sonic approach of Outrun Stories.
