Hope Is A Prison
Developing script, lore and character biography documents for a new game. Here I developed the idea for ‘Hope Is A Prison’, a first person RPG game that sees an android tasked with the rehabilitation of their patient, Jen, ultimately cause their death through a series of mis-steps. The game is centred around the androids ‘Negative Feedback Loops’ a product of the ‘Empathy Protocol’ in which the android is cerebrally paired with their patient. The documents created included, a game dev facing ‘game brief’, the development of the world’s lore and a specific ‘lore object’ as well as the full dev facing hero backstory and biography. This culminated in a full, dev facing, scene script that also included the finalised biography of the lead character. Initially as part of the twelve week Elvtr ‘Narrative Design For Video Games’ course, the work was marked on an on-going basis throughout the course by industry professional and Senior Scriptwriter – Ubisoft Bordeaux – Lorne Nudel. The course also included on a twice-weekly basis live collaborative workshops with other course participants for feedback and collaboration on the coursework.
